A smoothie should be 5 things.
  1. Very very cold.
  2. Refreshing.
  3. Healthy.
  4. Satisfying.
  5. Simple.
Today’s smoothie is all of the above, plus WAY more. It has the word tango in it. So000 you know it’s good.

Is there really anything better than a sunshine-packed week of BBQs, birthdays, wine, cake, cheese, and road trips? No. There is not.
That’s why the next best thing is a (1) very cold, (2) refreshing, (3) healthy, (4) satisfying, (5) simple, and… ahem… de-bloating fruity concoction to get yourself back on track in a new week. Bonuses: it’s pink, tastes like vacation, and there’s only 4 ingredients.
Take THAT, Monday.
What makes this smoothie so flippin’ awesome is (1) the word “tango” in the recipe name… duh… and (2) my secret ingredient. Also the thing I’m giving away today at the bottom of this post. Read how cool this is: I tried Bai5 Molokai Coconut drink last year, learned via Instagram that they read my blog, started emailing with them, and we’ve stayed in touch since. I gave away a case of their coconut flavor last fall and today I’m giving away their Malawi Mango flavor. If you’ve read page 17 in my first cookbook, you know my feelings about mango.
Anyway. Have you ever had Bai5 drinks before? What I love most about Bai5 drinks is that they’re naturally sweetened. And are filled with antioxidant powerhouse coffeefruit- not the bean from which your morning coffee is made, but the juicy red fruit it comes from. Oh! And there’s only 5 calories per serving. Get it? Bai5.

Bai5 Malawi Mango gives this smoothie outstanding flavor. If you cannot find Malawi Mango (I see it at Target, Acme, Wawa, gas stations, Whole Foods, and Giant all the time – it’s also online) coconut water or your favorite juice that you think pairs best with these smoothie ingredients would be fine.
Speaking of smoothie ingredients. Not only will you add mango Bai5, you’ll also add mango, 1/2 of a frozen banana, and raspberries. Like I said, only 4 ingredients! I figure we all need an easy healthy treat as we ease into a new week.
I decided to add fiber-rich raspberries to slightly balance out the sweet mango flavor. While sweet, they also have that subtle tart flavor that pairs perfectly with mango.
Frozen banana thickens up the whole drink without watering it down. If you’re not a fan of banana, add a little plain Greek yogurt and an ice cube or two instead.

Raspberry Mango Tango Smoothie

total time: 5 MINUTES
The easiest smoothie ever. The end.
Yield: 2 small or 1 large

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 of a large banana, previously peeled, sliced, and frozen1
  • 1/2 cup Bai5 Malawi Mango2
  • 1 cup frozen mango (fresh is OK, but frozen is preferred to get a thick texture smoothie)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries

Directions:

  1. Make sure you have a strong, powerful blender that will blend up the frozen banana and mango. I like this Ninja, this Ninja, and this Vitamix.
  2. Add all of the ingredients2 to the blender in the order listed. Blend on high for at least 3 minutes or until smooth. Scrape down the sides of the blender as needed. Add more Bai5 if it's too thick.
  3. Serve and enjoy. Store any leftover smoothie covered in the refrigerator for up to 8-10 hours.

Additional Notes:

  1. If you do not have Bai5 available, coconut water or your favorite juice that you think pairs best with these smoothie ingredients would be fine.
  2. Instead of banana, try using 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt with a couple ice cubes.
  3. Try adding 1 cup of your favorite greens to get in some extra veggies.
