Let’s talk about Valentine’s Day and Valentine’s Day rituals. Besides eating something chocolate-y (these are my absolute fave!), I’m a sucker for a sappy movie and a good cry. I’m not going to lie, past Valentine’s Days have included The Notebook, The Vow, and Celeste and Jessie Forever. I know, I know. I judge me a little too…
But this year, oh, this year will be different. Some friends and I are reclaiming Valentine’s in style – Galentine’s Day if you will – and heading out of town to… yup, you guessed. Probably watch sappy movies and cry. As long as there’s chocolate involved I’m going to be pretty happy though.
And that’s where this smoothie comes in. Whether you’re trying to satisfy a sugar craving or recover from a tough workout, this chocolate chia smoothie does the trick. This smoothie has a few powerhouse ingredients, including:
- Chia seeds – a great source of Omega-3’s along with protein, calcium, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and soluble fiber (making you feel more full).
- Raw cacao powder – which gives our smoothie a delicious chocolate kick while also adding important antioxidants and minerals (like magnesium and iron) that are especially beneficial for women’s health.
- Natural Calm Magnesium Supplement – which helps ease a variety of conditions, including: PMS symptoms, fatigue, stress, anxiety, headaches, and musculoskeletal conditions (e.g. fibromyalgia, muscle spasms, cramps, etc).
I’ve mentioned my love of Natural Calm here on the blog before because it’s one of the few supplements I take regularly. I usually mix it with a little plain water and have it a few hours before bed to help me sleep, but I’ve recently been adding it into smoothies after a tough workout to help with muscle cramps/soreness.
I originally developed this chocolate chia smoothie for Natural Calm’s new Calmful Balance ebook and you can download it for FREE here! It’s filled with tips to help you create more balance in your life and at home – and you’ll find quite a few delicious recipes created by yours truly. I hope you like it and I hope you treat yourself to this amazing smoothie!
